PM Narendra Modi held talks with US President Donald Trump today. There was a half-hour conversation between Modi and Trump. Both sides talked about bilateral and regional matters. In the context of the regional situation, PM Modi in his conversation with the US President said that there are anti-India statements by some leaders of the region which is not conducive to peace. Modi underscored the importance of creating an environment free of terrorism and violence, and curbing terrorism from across the border
Referring to his bilateral (Indo-US) discussion in Osaka, PM Modi hoped that India’s Commerce Minister and US Trade Representative would meet on an early date to discuss bilateral trade prospects for mutual benefit. During his talks with Trump, Modi reiterated India’s long-standing commitment to working for a unified, secure and democratic Afghanistan. The Indian government statement said that the 30-minute conversation between Modi and Trump was held in a “warm and cordial” manner and included bilateral, regional matters.
